Well this week has been high on the "learning curve".  We are not only working hard on learning who all these interesting people are and something about their backgrounds, but we are also beginning to tutor young and older from many lands.  Our English lessons include those from Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Mongolia, Brazil and China.  They are all so eager for help and kindly appreciative and we are attaching to them quickly.  Some are members and many are either investigators or just interested people the missionaries have met who want to improve their English.  So here are the "seniors" and some of their new friends.

Saturday was a very important holiday here in Australia called ANZAC Day (similar to our Veteran's day).  It was the 100th anniversary and was a huge celebration with a 3 hour parade and many events throughout the city.  We met up with other missionary couples to watch the parade and enjoy the patriotic festivities.
So another exciting week ahead so stay tuned!

Well the fun has begun.  We arrived in Sydney on April 13 after a long 6 week visa wait.  Pres. and Sis. Howes met us for our early 6:30 arrival and whisked us off for this amazing arrival photo shoot.

We live in downtown Sydney across from Hyde Park.  The white highrise is where the church and our office is located.  The other highrise on the left is where we live on the 9th floor.  Our apt is "cozy" but quite nice with all the conveniences that a couple of old missionaries could desire.

We are loving our assignment with the Young Single Adults.  The ward is very international with about 150 active members.  There are also 14 missionaries serving in this ward from Thailand, Hawaii, U.S., China, Taiwan, and New Zealand.  They bring all their investigators to the church to teach so we get to assist with those lessons.  We also help with all the activities going on during the week ie., FHE, game nights, Friday forum.  During the day we teach alot of one-on-one English lessons and also conduct a training class twice a week for those studying for the IELTS English test for college and permanent residence status.  The missionaries distribute flyers throughout the city for free English classes to draw people to the church as possible investigators.  So there is great activity going on here and we are just beginning to get a feel for the fun and exciting mission this will be.
